Veteran Employment Success Stories

Every month the Office of Veteran Employment Services (OVES) will be sharing stories of individuals that have successfully found careers through our services. Disabled Veterans Outreach Program Representative (DVOP) provide the intensive services necessary to meet the employment needs of Veterans who are economically or educationally disadvantaged, disabled, homeless, or facing other significant barriers to employment. December 2018

  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a transitioning service member with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted an Operations Maintenance Supervisor position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $75,000.00 per year.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a transitioning service member with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Maintenance Technician position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $55,500.00 per year.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a service-connected disabled veteran with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Compliance Technician position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $50,000.00 per year.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a service-connected disabled veteran who was also experiencing homelessness with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Production Worker position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $15.00 per hour.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a veteran who was at risk of homelessness with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Sales Correspondent position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $18.00 per hour.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a transitioning service member with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Brake Press Operator position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $18.00 per hour.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a service-connected disabled veteran with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Mechanical Engineer Technician position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $41,600.00 per year.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a veteran who had been terminated from previous employment and was experiencing homelessness with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume and an individual employment plan development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Local/Regional Driver/Mechanic position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $15.50 per hour.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a service-connected disabled veteran with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Claims Specialist position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $55,000.00 per year.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a service-connected disabled veteran who was working to complete a Department of Veterans Affairs funded education program, with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience and education; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Housing Diversion Specialist position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $15.00 per hour.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a service-connected disabled veteran with an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Machine Operator position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $2,253.00 per month.
  • Office of Veteran Employment Services staff assisted a veteran who was also provided services by the Center for Veterans Issues due to being homeless. Services included an initial assessment to determine needs and eligibility; career guidance; resume development to highlight work experience; case management; and job search and placement information. The veteran was offered and accepted a Material Handler position based on prior work experience. The starting wage is $16.00 per hour.
