Manitowoc Job Center Expanding Outreach Services, Closing Physical Site

Pre-COVID-19 plans amend service delivery model to provide outreach in more communities

MANITOWOC – The Department of Workforce Development (DWD) and its partners at the Bay Area Workforce Development Board announced the amendment of their service delivery plan in the Manitowoc area to expand services through outreach at local libraries, community centers, and correctional facilities throughout the area, as well as enhance the delivery of virtual services. The Manitowoc Job Center's physical location on Dewey Street will close to allow staff the ability to expand outreach into additional communities.

Plans to restructure service delivery began in 2019 and are not related to the recent COVID-19 pandemic. All Job Center services will still be available at locations throughout the county, over the phone, and online at JobCenterofWisconsin.com.

"We are adjusting our service delivery model to more effectively serve our customers and meet them in their communities," said DWD Secretary Caleb Frostman. "Our staff will be able to provide the same services in more locations."

In addition to providing outreach at libraries and other community locations, online resources on JobCenterofWisconsin.com include free online videos on job searching, resume writing, networking, and interviewing to help job seekers increase their reemployment skills. Job seekers can also access tools including a Budget Planner, Self-sufficiency Calculator, Career Exploration, and connections to Community Resources.

Job Center staff will still connect employers and local job seekers, including individuals with disabilities and veterans, through no-cost job postings on JobCenterofWisconsin.com and hiring events and on-site recruitments.

Job Center locations are currently closed to prevent the spread of COVID-19. As in-person services resume, specific information about outreach services will be shared locally. The Sheboygan and Green Bay Job Centers will also be available to provide services.
