Center to move next month from 701 Cherry St. to Baylake City Center, 301 N. Adams St.
GREEN BAY – The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD), Bay Area Workforce Development Board (WDB) and local partners in April will move Brown County Job Center employment and training services from their current location at 701 Cherry St. to the Baylake City Center at 301 N. Adams Street in the heart of downtown Green Bay.
The last day for Job Center services at the current 701 Cherry St. location will be Tuesday, April 17, with services available until 4:30 p.m. that day. Following a two-day move, the Job Center is expected to reopen to the public at the 301 N. Adams St. location at 8 a.m. Friday, April 20. The move to 301 N. Adams St. does not include Forward Services Corp., which operates W-2, FSET and other services.
The Brown County Job Center's new location will provide updated facilities with ground-floor access to a new Resource Room, ample space for professional employer recruitment events, and rooms for Re-Employment Services courses, counselor appointments and other services.
"With record-low unemployment in Wisconsin, DWD and Wisconsin Job Center partners are working to ensure that no talent is left on the sidelines," DWD Secretary Ray Allen said. “Moving the Brown County Job Center to the Baylake City Center makes regional employment and training services more accessible to employers and job seekers, including individuals who are unemployed, underemployed or seeking to advance their careers. The move also improves access to Brown County Job Center services for individuals who use public transportation, increasing the number of bus routes that use the nearby bus stop."
“With low unemployment, we have to focus on career development for workers who are underemployed or eager to advance their career to maximize the talent and skills of our workforce in a global economy,” says Jim Golembeski, executive director of Bay Area Workforce Development Board. “We will be working to move beyond traditional job search assistance to link our workers and employers together in new ways to everyone’s benefit.”
The Baylake City Center's lower lease cost will save public dollars, ensuring resources continue to support programs and services that address regional employment and training needs in a cost-effective manner.
Bus service is conveniently located near the Baylake City Center building. Green Bay Metro Transit bus route and fare information is available at: http://www.greenbaymetro.org/.
Public parking is available at city-managed lots and ramps, such as the nearby Pine Street Ramp that offers FREE parking for the first hour. Customers are encouraged to visit the City of Green Bay's Public Works Department website for parking information at: http://greenbaywi.gov/publicworks/.
