Job Duty Restrictions for Temporary Work Experience

Reviewed: May 2023

Safety of the participant is always our first priority.

Manual welding (helmet, sparks flying)

  • We have allowed spot welding, where the equipment is enclosed, and two hands are on the machine at the same time to operate.

The use of ladders, which may include job duties such as stocking, painting, window washing, construction etc.

Roof tops (construction site)

The use of power saws

  • Hand saws are allowed.

The use of a woodchipper

Driving/riding in a vehicle

  • We do allow the use of riding lawn mowers and golf carts but should not be operated on roadways.

The use of, or cleaning meat/food slicers

Passing/distributing medication

  • A cashier position in a pharmacy is allowed, because the prescriptions are already packaged.

One on one care

  • Personal care should be supervised at all times.

Giving tattoos

Any position that involves lifting more than 50# should be a 2-person lift

  • Lifting also depends on the ability of the participant.

If there are any questionable job duties other than what is listed, please ask.

Also, if a TWE could involve any of these job duties at a worksite, please indicate on the TWA that these restrictions will not be permitted. Some examples…, if the work experience is in a deli, please indicate that the use of a meat/food slicer will not be permitted. Or if the job duties include oil change, tire rotation, detailing etc. please indicate that driving will not be permitted.
