Central States Association Spring Seminar to be Held in Madison

Event Brings Together Jurisdictional Worker's Compensation Agency Representatives from Central United States

MADISON – Wisconsin's worker's compensation system, long regarded as a model for its stability and effectiveness for the benefit of workers and employers, will take center stage when the Central States Association hosts its annual Spring Seminar on June 8-9, 2023, at the Madison Concourse Hotel.

The seminar will bring together industry professionals from across the central United States to discuss a variety of topics such as modernization, change management, medical trends, compliance, and other issues affecting worker's compensation.

The seminar will be moderated by Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Worker's Compensation Division Administrator Steven Peters, who is the current Central States Association president. The association includes jurisdictional workers' compensation agencies from the states of Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota, and Wisconsin.

"Wisconsin is pleased to convene worker's compensation representatives from agencies across the central United States for this seminar and to showcase our worker's compensation system as a national model," DWD Secretary-designee Amy Pechacek said. "From our worker's compensation system to our record-low 2.4 percent unemployment rate in April – lower than 40 other states – Wisconsin is leading the way on many fronts and has a compelling success story to tell."

This year's seminar was planned in partnership between DWD and the International Association of Industrial Accident Boards and Commissions, which includes regional associations such as the Central States Association. More information is available online, including a full agenda.

Wisconsin's Worker's Compensation Division has been involved with the international association since 1914, with several WC staff serving as association president and Wisconsin hosting annual conventions.

The association provides education, training, resources, and networking opportunities to members them improve delivery of worker's compensation benefits and services.
