DWD Officials Encourage Milwaukee Area Business Leaders to Attend Internship Strategies Workshop
Fourth in a series of workshops to be held September 29 at Concordia University
MADISON – Officials from the Department of Workforce Development (DWD), University of Wisconsin System (UW System) and the Wisconsin Association of Independent Colleges and Universities (WAICU) will be at Concordia University on Thursday, September 29, from 9:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. for a Workforce Alignment – Internship Strategies Workshop. Employers with existing internship programs and employers who are interested in implementing an internship program are strongly encouraged to attend this free event.
Internship programs not only benefit the student, but also the employer. Employers are able to observe students in action before hire, while students are able to demonstrate their skills in a work setting. It is proven that students who intern for a Wisconsin company are more likely to stay in Wisconsin after graduation, making internship programs a valuable workforce retention strategy.
