Public Comment Period Open on UI Reform

Deadline to submit comments will be November 18; a public hearing is set for Nov. 17 at seven sites statewide

MADISON – Today, the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) encouraged the public to submit comments about the state's Unemployment Insurance(UI) system to the Unemployment Insurance Advisory Council (UIAC). The Council is taking public comments on suggested reforms to the state's UI laws through November 18, 2016. The comments will help form the Council's legislative agenda during the following year.

Comments may be submitted by email to UILawChange@dwd.wisconsin.gov or via the U.S. Postal Service to:

The Council will also take public comments at a public hearing on November 17, 2016. The hearing will be administered in Madison and broadcast live through web video at six locations throughout the state. Hearing attendees will be able to share reform ideas with the UIAC in real time at any of the seven locations:
