Governor Scott Walker Announces Northern Wisconsin Economic Development Summit
Madison – Governor Scott Walker announced that registration is open for the ninth annual Governor's Northern Wisconsin Economic Development Summit, held on December 1, 2015 in Trego. The summit will include remarks from Governor Walker and Lt. Governor Rebecca Kleefisch, as well as an opportunity to interact with residents and businesses in northern Wisconsin, and includes information on access to capital, workforce development, entrepreneurial assistance, and the expansion of broadband internet.
"We've made significant investments in worker training, broadband expansion grants, and other programs to support an economic climate that creates private-sector jobs throughout the state," Governor Walker said. "Our administration has focused on key issues that benefit residents and businesses throughout northern Wisconsin, and we look forward to the Northern Wisconsin Economic Development Summit, where we'll discuss how we can continue to move Wisconsin and this part of the state forward."
The summit brings together key stakeholders, including state agency leaders and staff, representatives from the University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Technical College Systems, state and local chambers of commerce, government officials, businesses, tribal representatives and others. State agencies will provide briefings on key initiatives that are positively affecting northern Wisconsin and recent success stories that demonstrate how agencies can serve residents and businesses. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions of state agency leaders and interact one-on-one with agency leaders and staff. New this year, members of Governor Walker's cabinet will be traveling during the week of the summit to visit businesses, local governments, and tribes throughout the Northwoods to highlight success stories and hear from local businesses and residents.
This year's Northern Wisconsin Economic Development Summit is held at the Heartwood Conference Center in Trego. It is $75 for those who register ahead of time and $85 for on-site registration. A detailed agenda and more information can be found at www.northwoodssummit.com.
