DWD Secretary Appoints New Chief Legal Counsel & Legislative Liaison
MADISON – Today, Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Reggie Newson announced the appointments of Karl Dahlen as Chief Legal Counsel and Andrew Evenson as Legislative Liaison in the agency.
"DWD is happy to announce the additions of Karl and Andrew to the Secretary's office," Secretary Newson said. "Both Karl and Andrew bring a wealth of knowledge and experience in their respective fields and share DWD's vision of building and strengthening Wisconsin's workforce in the 21st century and beyond."
Dahlen has worked for Lands' End, Inc. in Dodgeville since 1998 in various roles, most recently as Sr. Vice President, General Counsel & Corporate Secretary. Prior to this role, Dahlen worked as a Senior Associate for Krukowski and Costello, S.C, a law firm specializing in labor and employment law. In this role, he counseled clients regarding employment discrimination, wage and hour law, and employment contracts. He also advised employers in union relations, unfair labor practices, representation elections and arbitrations. He succeeds Howard Bernstein who is retiring after over 40 years of state service.
Evenson has held multiple positions in the State Legislature including as Legislative Aide to Senator Alberta Darling, co-chair of the Joint Finance Committee. He succeeds BJ Dernbach, who was recently named Administrator of DWD's Division of Worker's Compensation.
Dahlen and Evenson will transition into their new roles in the coming weeks.
