DWD Secretary Announces Appointment of Delora Newton as Division of Vocational Rehabilitation Administrator
MADISON – Today, Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Reggie Newson announced the appointment of Delora Newton as the new Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) Administrator. Newton has been with DWD since July 2014 and, most recently, was Administrator of the Division of Worker's Compensation (WC).
"Delora brings strong credentials to her new role in our Division of Vocational Rehabilitation, having served as Vice President at the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce for many years prior to her tenure at DWD," Secretary Newson said. "Her experience leading efforts to help businesses identify and fill their talent development and recruitment needs will be instrumental as the Division helps consumers achieve their employment goals."
Newton held leadership positions in DWD's Administrative Services Division and Secretary's Office prior to her appointment as WC Division Administrator this year. Before that, Newton was Vice President of the Greater Madison Chamber of Commerce from 2006 to 2014. She also worked for former Governor Tommy Thompson as well as for a Lieutenant Governor, senator and representatives.
The Division of Vocational Rehabilitation administers programs designed to obtain, maintain, and improve employment for people with disabilities by working with VR consumers, employers, and other partners.
