More than 70 Employers to Recruit for Nearly 1,000 Job Openings at the July 29 Fox Valley Career Expo

Job seekers urged to register now; openings span manufacturing, health care, transportation

FOND DU LAC – More than 70 employers will recruit for nearly 1,000 job openings at the Department of Workforce Development's (DWD) Fox Valley Career Expo from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 at the Fond du Lac County Fair Grounds. Unlike most traditional job fairs, the event is open only to employers with current job openings and job seekers who are pre-screened for work readiness.

"The Fox Valley Career Expo provides job seekers with access to employers from across the region that have immediate hiring needs for entry level through advanced positions," DWD Secretary Reggie Newson said. "I urge job seekers to pre-register for the event today to meet the area's top recruiters."

The Fox Valley Career Expo will feature employer job openings in: manufacturing starting at $11 to $20 an hour and customer service ranging from $11 to $16 per hour. Demand in the health care sector continues for registered nurses with annual wages ranging from $45,000 to $65,000, and in the transportation industry for commercial truck drivers with starting wages up to $50,000 a year. Registered businesses include: Agnesian Healthcare, Alliance Laundry Systems, Ameriquip Corporation, Aurora Health Care, Bemis, Charter Communications, Kohler, Kwik Trip, Mercury Marine, Michels Corporation, Quad/Graphics, Sargento Foods, Schneider National, Walmart Logistics and 4Imprint.

Local workforce system partners, such as the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board, Fox Valley Technical College and Moraine Park Technical College (MPTC), assist DWD with event coordination. This year, job seekers also have an opportunity to explore high-demand careers through information and demonstrations, including MPTC's virtual welder simulator and Schneider National's new semi cab simulator.

Nearly 1,000 registered job seekers are expected to attend the Fond du Lac Career Expo. The first 30 minutes is limited to U.S. military veterans seeking employment. The general public will be admitted at 10 a.m. Follow these steps to register now:

  1. Visit www.JobCenterofWisconsin.com, and register or update your information;
  2. Use the site's Job Seeker Tools to create or update a job match profile and complete a self-assessment survey (print copies when finished); and
  3. Meet with a local Job Center employment specialist to review details and receive an admission ticket. Job Center staff is available during regular Job Center hours through Tuesday, July 28.
