DWD Secretary Visits z2Marketing in Waukesha, Meets Young Professionals to Highlight Wisconsin Opportunity
WAUKESHA – Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Reggie Newson today visited z2 Marketing of Waukesha to highlight career opportunities that are available across the region for young professionals.
"Companies like z2Marketing are tailoring recruitment and retention strategies to appeal to Millennials, and young professionals are responding enthusiastically," Secretary Newson said. "As Wisconsin faces a worker shortage that employers say could hold them back from expanding and adding jobs, we need to do more to grow and keep young professionals in our state."
In April, during Wisconsin's Young Professionals Week, z2 Marketing was one of 10 employers awarded a 2015 Bubbler Award through a new program launched by NEWaukee, a Milwaukee-area organization that specializes in social architecture and helping local employers attract and retain young talent. Other winners in southeast Wisconsin include Kohl's Corporation of Menomonee Falls, United Hospital System of Kenosha and Harley-Davidson and Robert W. Baird of Milwaukee.
The Bubbler Award is designed to highlight employers that have the qualities that Millennials are seeking in today’s workplace: competitive salary and benefits, opportunity for advancement and employee and community engagement.
Z2 Marketing offers Millennials a creative and inspiring office space where talent can be developed. The company encourages fitness and group activities that create an energetic atmosphere and leads to higher-quality and better production. Managers often share business strategies with their employees so everyone feels ownership in the success of the company. Management is consistently showing their appreciation and empowering their team to do the best work possible.
Katie Scott, a young professional from z2 states, "Some could argue that anybody can have a nice workspace (don't get me wrong, we have a beautiful space), however, not any workplace has a staff that just meshes. We have a lot of fun together, along with other things like collaboration and having an open door policy helps for a healthy work environment."
During today's visit, Secretary Newson spoke with young professionals about what they look for in a workplace, and with company leaders who elaborated on their talent recruitment and retention strategies.
