More than 80 Employers with Hundreds of Job Openings Connect with Talent at Eau Claire Career Expo
EAU CLAIRE – Today, more than 350 job seekers gained access to 83 employers with over 600 job openings at the Eau Claire Career Expo at the Menards Conference Center. A total of seven workforce partner agencies volunteered at the event, which was coordinated by the state Department of Workforce Development (DWD) in collaboration with the Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce and Workforce Resource.
"Hundreds of local job seekers attended the Eau Claire Career Expo to gain exclusive access to hiring managers with area employers," said DWD Assistant Deputy Secretary Dave Anderson. "This premiere hiring event is helping businesses fill more than 600 entry-level to advanced career opportunities. These are the kinds of connections that help West-Central Wisconsin's economy grow and move forward."
Unlike most traditional job fairs, Career Expos are open only to employers with current job openings and job seekers who are pre-screened for work readiness in advance.
Among the 83 employers that participated are Extendicare, FABCO Equipment, Inc., Global Finishing Solutions, Marten Transport, Menards, Inc., RCU and Schneider National.
Alexa Sax of the Marten Transport Human Resources Office said, "We've gotten a lot of qualified applicants so far today. We've also handed out lots of business cards, and are looking forward to hearing back from those individuals. The applicants appeared to be prepared. This booth is a good size with more space that we've had in past years. This Expo has been a great event."
The Eau Claire Career Expo featured employer job openings transportation with annual wages of $38,000 to $70,000 for commercial truck drivers. Demand in the health care sector continues for registered nurses with starting pay at $23 to $30 an hour. Employers also recruited for a variety of good-paying hourly and salaried job openings in other industries, such as manufacturing, customer service and sales.
The Career Expo was held between 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Job seeker attendance was limited to U.S. military veterans at 10 a.m. General admission began at 10:30 a.m.
