More Than 60 Employers Expected at June 4 Eau Claire Career Expo

Hiring event is open to employers with jobs to fill and pre-registered job seekers

EAU CLAIRE – Department of Workforce Development (DWD) Secretary Reggie Newson announced today that more than 60 employers are expected to participate in the June 4 Eau Claire Career Expo from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Menards Conference Center. He urges employers and job seekers to register now for the DWD hiring event.

"The Eau Claire Career Expo is open to businesses in all sectors with current job openings," said Secretary Newson. "I encourage employers to register for a booth today to ensure access to pre-screened job seekers who successfully demonstrate work-readiness."

Registered businesses include: Extendicare, FABCO Equipment, Inc., Menards, Inc., and Schneider. Employers interested in attending the Eau Claire Career Expo must register online by May 28.

More than 500 registered job seekers are expected to attend the Eau Claire Career Expo. Job seeker attendance will be limited to U.S. military veterans at 10 a.m. The general public will be admitted at 10:30 a.m.

"The goal of the Eau Claire Career Expo is to connect as many job seekers as possible with quality employers in the area to help the economy in West-Central Wisconsin continue to grow," said Steve Blodgett, DWD's Job Service Director for the region. "Participating employers are ready to hire qualified individuals for their job openings. Job seekers must register, update resumes and prepare for possible onsite interviews."

Job seekers must follow these steps to pre-register for the Eau Claire Career Expo:

  1. Visit www.JobCenterofWisconsin.com, and register or update your information;
  2. Use the Job Seeker Tools on the site to create or update a job match profile and complete a self-assessment survey (be sure to print copies for the final step); and
  3. Meet with an employment specialist at a local Job Center during business hours through June 3 to review the resume and self-assessment survey, review the job application process, and receive an admission ticket.

DWD recommends job seekers prepare for hiring opportunities by checking the list of participating Eau Claire Career Expo employers, then visiting JobCenterofWisconsin.com to learn more about positions that employers are seeking to fill.

DWD's Eau Claire Career Expo is sponsored in part by Leader-Telegram and Employer Support of the Guard and Reserve. Planning partners include Workforce Resource and Eau Claire Area Chamber of Commerce.
