Surgical Technologist
Northeast Wisconsin Technical College
As a surgical technologist you are a valuable member of the surgical team. You will prepare and maintain a sterile field before and during surgery, pass instruments and supplies to the surgeon, provide safe patient care, and prepare instruments for operative procedures. You may work in a hospital, outpatient surgery, private practice or clinical setting. As a Surgical Technologist program graduate, you may also have a career as a central supply technician, claims approver, private scrub technician and medical sales person. • Attend mandatory program orientation and welcome week. • Complete an American Heart Association BLS Provider CPR course prior to program entry. Students are required to maintain a current CPR card to comply with affiliating agency requirements. • Complete caregiver background check. A fee is charged for this service. Additional information will be provided upon acceptance into the program. • Complete a Functional Abilities Inventory.

100% refund, if application for refund is made by the student prior to the first scheduled meeting of the course and the student does not add another course. 80% refund for a course is made before or at the time 10% of the course's total hours of instruction have been completed. 60% refund for a course is made after 10% but before more than 20% of the course's potential hours of instruction have been completed. No refund if application is made after 20% of the course's total hours.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
