The NCCER Level II Heavy Equipment Operations program is an intensive 120-hour, three-week advanced training course designed to develop skilled, job-ready operators. Students receive hands-on instruction in excavator, dozer, and motor grader operations, focusing on precision grading, trenching, site preparation, and material movement techniques used in real-world production environments. Training also includes log truck/ knuckle boom crane operation understanding grapple loading and unloading. Training also includes safe loading and unloading of heavy equipment, and proper load securement procedures. Emphasis is placed on safety compliance, equipment efficiency, jobsite communication, and production-level performance standards. Upon successful completion, students earn NCCER Level II Heavy Equipment Operations credentials, demonstrating verified competency and enhancing employment opportunities in construction, road building, mining, and forestry industries. The deadline to apply for the program is the Friday prior to the start of the course assuming there are spots still available.
Individuals interested in getting into the operating engineers, road commissions, mining, construction, and road building need advanced heavy equipment operations training to get into these employment opportunities.
We work with many employers and businesses that want to hire graduates right after completing the program.
North Country Heavy Equipment School doesn't place anybody per se, however we work with many employers to get you employed right after graduating the program.
We have a high school teacher that comes in to help with the IUOE work keys test. The school's instructors also provide extra training as needed for students that are struggling.
