CBRF Caregiver- Standard Precautions
Trinity Allied Healthcareer Academy
10/13/2025
The Standard Precautions course is one of the four Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS)–required trainings for Community-Based Residential Facility (CBRF) caregivers. This program provides participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent the spread of infection and ensure a safe environment for residents, staff, and visitors in assisted living facilities. Students will learn proper hand hygiene, use of personal protective equipment (PPE), safe handling of sharps and biohazardous materials, and procedures to reduce cross-contamination in daily caregiving tasks. Emphasis is placed on real-world scenarios and hands-on practice to prepare participants for immediate application in the workplace. This course is taught by licensed nurses with extensive healthcare and training experience. Upon successful completion, participants meet the DHS caregiver training requirement for Standard Precautions and are eligible to be listed on the Wisconsin CBRF Employee Registry. Show More

This program is offered

Rolling admission (until cohort is full)
This DHS-approved course prepares learners for medication-related duties in Community-Based Residential Facilities (CBRFs) and leads to listing on the Wisconsin CBRF Employee Registry. It stacks with Standard Precautions, Fire Safety, and First Aid/Choking to qualify for Resident Care Staff roles, and can bridge to Home Health Aide/CNA, Medication Aide, and—with further education—LPN/RN pathways. Employers accept the registry record as proof of completion.
We provide individualized job placement support, including resume/cover-letter development, mock interviews, and application assistance. Students receive curated job leads with local assisted living and residential care partners, plus employer referrals and interview scheduling when available. We also host hiring events, offer reference letters upon request, and give post-placement support with 30/60/90-day check-ins. Coordination with workforce funders (e.g., WIOA/FSET) is available when applicable.
Free skills tutoring and test prep by appointment; weekly open skills lab; remediation after assessments; virtual/phone support; ADA accommodations available.

Registration fee, UW-Green Bay CBRF Employee Registry fees — $25 per class (Fire Safety, First Aid & Choking, Medication Administration, Standard Precautions) plus ARC CPR certification exam. This course requires two face-to-face contact hours and is designed to be completed in two hours.
Students will receive a 100% refund if they cancel at least three business days before the start date, or 75% if they cancel at least two business days prior. No refunds are issued after the class begins or for no-shows. One seat-available transfer is permitted for $50 if requested at least 24 hours before the next start or within two business days after a no-show; this fee may be waived once for documented emergencies.
