IT - Cybersecurity Specialist

The IT-Cybersecurity and Network Administration program provides students with the skills required to maintain a secure IT system along with the expertise to design, install, and manage the integrity of a computer network infrastructure. Equipment and technology used in this program includes firewalls, intrusion detection and prevention systems, anomaly identification systems, physical server computing, cloud computing, and associated physical security technologies. At the end of the first 2 semesters of curriculum the student will have earned a technical diploma. The IT-Network Systems Technician program provides students with the skills required to support the integrity of a computer network infrastructure. Students will be able to manage, configure and troubleshoot common system infrastructure issues, including network switching, routing, IP services, fiber optics, premises cabling and basic network device security. Students will work with business class systems such as Cisco, Microsoft and Linux. Extensive hands-on, real-world, experiences with real equipment are provided to gain the immense knowledge required to accurately configure and secure network systems.
Southwest Tech's Career Connections Center offers Services to assist students looking for job placement.
Academic Services offers in-person and virtual academic support. Flexible daytime and evening appointments are available. Staff members are happy to work outside these hours if their availability does not align with student needs.

REFUND POLICY Southwest Tech's tuition and fee refund policy is in accord with Wisconsin Technical College System and District Board policy guidelines. As a general rule, students are responsible for requesting any refund of tuition and/or fees paid to Southwest Tech. Refunds under $5 will not be processed. Adding or withdrawing from a course requires timely submission of appropriate paperwork to Student Services. Students can officially withdraw from a course upon notifying Student Services.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
