This vendor-authorized course prepares students for a career as an entry-level Information Technology (IT) professional or personal computer (PC) service technician. Students will acquire the essential skills and information they need to install, upgrade, repair, configure, troubleshoot, optimize, and perform preventative maintenance of basic personal computer hardware and operating systems. Lesson include: Hardware & Operating System Fundamentals, Operational Procedures, Peripheral & Managing System Components, Installing and Configuring Operating Systems, Customized Client Environments, Networking Technologies, Installing, Configuring, and Maintaining SOHO Networks, Supporting Laptops, Mobile Computing, Supporting Printers, Security, Troubleshooting Hardware Components & System-Wide Issues. CompTIA recommends that you have 6-9 months of hands-on experience in the field or in a lab. If you do not have paid IT experience, we strongly recommend the “extended”, 2 week CompTIA A+ learning paths. To ensure your success in this course, you should have basic computer user skills, be able to complete tasks in a Microsoft® Windows® environment, be able to search for, browse, and access information on the Internet, and have basic knowledge of computing concepts. Students should also have basic knowledge of computing concepts, including the difference between hardware and software; the functions of software components, such as the operating system, applications, and file systems; and the function of a computer network.

We provide resources to support effective job search techniques, strategies, and tools like: resume development, interview skills and leveraging LinkedIn. We offer interviewing practice sessions and resume reviews. Professional job placement assistance through recruiting and business partnerships is available to career development students.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
