Fire Protection Technician
Moraine Park Technical College
Moraine Park’s Fire Protection Technician program prepares students for this career field by teaching the principles of fire behavior, management, prevention and protection systems, as well as other emergency services. The training includes knowledge of building construction and the use of water in fire protection. Program Outcomes Demonstrate professional conduct by displaying a personal code of ethics, positive work ethics, flexibility, teamwork skills, physical fitness, safe procedures, and sensitivity to diverse cultures and individuals. Perform fire prevention activities including preplanning, public education, inspection, and investigation. Apply incident management and mitigation skills to emergency incidents. Meet professional fire service and EMS credentialing standards. Communicate clearly and effectively both verbally and through written documentation with clients, coworkers, other agencies, and supervisors. Apply critical thinking skills Show More

This program is offered

Program applications are accepted until a week prior to the start of each semester. There are some exceptions for programs or certificates that begin mid-semester. Some high-demand/limited-enrollment programs reach capacity based on the number of students who complete admission. Applicants are accepted into limited-enrollment programs on a first-come, first-served basis and are admitted from program waitlists as space becomes available.
Advisory board committee members from area businesses provide guidance and direction on curriculum and program outcomes.
Moraine Park offers Employment Services and Career Services to students.
Tutoring is available online and face to face for our students.
