Certified Nursing Assistant - 2 credit option
Blackhawk Technical College
This is a basic 75 hour Nursing Assistant course approved by the Wisconsin DHS( under EMR2029) to offer a modified nurse aide training program in response to the pandemic and in accordance with Administrative Code DHS 129. Students who successfully complete this course will be eligible to take the competency evaluation for inclusion on the Wisconsin Nurse Aide Registry as a Nursing Assistant/Home Health Aide. The Nursing Assistant works under the supervision of an RN or LPN performing bedside and personal care, in a ""practical setting"", gathering data such as vital signs or in-take and out-put, and performing basic therapeutic interventions such as range of motion exercises. The course includes theory lecture (face-to-face or Hybrid), skills lab practice, and a clinical experience in a long-term care setting, which is currently in a ""Practical Setting"" lab. Prior to enrolling in this program, you must complete a placement exam, a criminal background check to determine eligibility for placement at an active clinical site. Students must be at least 16 years old to attend clinical practicum. Students under the age of 18 must be selected as a Youth Apprentice through their High School.

BTC Career Services helps students explore careers, prepare for the job application process and find current opportunities. BTC offers resume writing, mock interviews, and job search and internships, when available.
Blackhawk Technical College provides free tutoring services to credit students enrolled at the college. We offer online, open lab and peer tutoring. Also counseling services are available.
