Prepare to evaluate and counsel clients with substance use disorders with the Substance Use Disorders Counseling associate degree program at Moraine Park. Substance Use Disorders Counselors, also known as Alcohol and Other Drug (AODA) Counselors, help clients and their families develop new lifestyles and coping methods to resolve personal conflicts. The Substance Use Disorders Counseling field has a positive job outlook and is growing much faster than average. Students gain foundational knowledge, skills and experience necessary to treat and counsel clients. Graduates are prepared to evaluate clients and develop treatment plans. Successful Substance Use Disorders Counselors are excellent listeners, writers and negotiators. They also have a passion for helping and assisting others. Program applications are accepted until a week prior to the start of each semester. There are some exceptions for programs or certificates that begin mid-semester. Some high-demand/limited-enrollment programs reach capacity based on the number of students who complete admission. Applicants are accepted into limited-enrollment programs on a first-come, first-served basis and are admitted from program waitlists as space becomes available.
Advisory board committee members from area businesses provide guidance and direction on curriculum and program outcomes.
Moraine Park offers Employment Services and Career Services to students.
Tutoring is available online and face to face for our students.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
