It has become a critical need to examine the historical trauma of African Americans in determining the basis and outcomes of mental health issues within the community. This course addresses areas related to race, demographic characteristics, historical factors and sociopolitical issues for African Americans and how they influence and impact mental health. Specific topics such as identity, cultural values, religion and spirituality, traditional health beliefs, gender role socialization and social class are discussed. A full refund is issued to participants if the SCE cancels a program. If a participant withdraws at least 10 business days prior to the start of a program, a 100% refund will be issued. If a participant withdraws less than 10 business days prior to the program start, one transfer of fees to any current available course is allowed; otherwise, the participants will receive a refund minus a 20% admin fee. PLEASE NOTE:

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
