Moraine Park s Substance Abuse Counseling associate of applied science degree provides the foundational knowledge, skills and practical experience to prepare students to counsel and treat clients with substance use disorders. The program meets all educational requirements for counselor certification and prepares them for counselor certification examination. Upon completion of the associate degree in Substance Abuse Counseling, students are awarded 500 hours for being an approved program and an additional 468 hours of clinical experience for a total of 968 hours towards the required 4,000 hours of clinical experience needed for counselor certification as a Substance Abuse Counselor with the Department of Safety and Professional Services of the State of Wisconsin. Program applications are accepted until a week prior to the start of each semester. There are some exceptions for programs or certificates that begin mid-semester. Some high-demand/limited-enrollment programs reach capacity based on the number of students who complete admission. Applicants are accepted into limited-enrollment programs on a first-come, first-served basis and are admitted from program waitlists as space becomes available.
Advisory board committee members from area businesses provide guidance and direction on curriculum and program outcomes.
Moraine Park offers Employment Services and Career Services to students.
Tutoring is available online and face to face for our students.

Additional fees will include books, supplies/materials and online course fees (if taking online courses).
