The Welding / Maintenance and Fabrication short term technical diploma will prepare welders to perform production welding. The student will be trained in the basics of Gas Metal Arc Welding, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, OAC/PAC/AAC Cutting, Print Reading and Math. It includes the study of the types of metal and equipment utilized in welding. The instruction emphasizes accepted applications of welding and joining metals utilizing the use of standard welding techniques.

The Welding Maintenance and Fabrication Technical Diploma ladders all credits into the Welding Technical Diploma (one year) program.
Employment Services available to College students and graduates include: Electronic postings of all current openings listed with Employment Services are located on Wisconsin TechConnect, work-study positions within Northwood Tech are mailed/e-mailed to eligible students, Salary and placement information Northwood Tech dates are posted on the Northwood Tech Web site on each program page, resumé assistance - staff are available to assist with resumés, cover letters, etc. (check with Student Services), seminars/workshops held on campus (including interview preparation), and job fairs held on campus.
The Academic Support Center (ASC) is located at each campus. Community members and students are encouraged to meet with an ASC instructor to create a personalized success plan. Services include: GED/HSED preparation, college preparation coursework, academic support within the classroom, foundational skill building classes in math/writing/reading, test taking and study skills strategies, critical thinking skills, basic computer skills, learning styles inventory, free peer tutoring, workshops focused on student learning, math and writing labs, academic coaching: individual one on one support, and English Language Learner (ELL) classes.

Students are responsible for a percentage of tuition and fees as determined by the WTCS Tuition and Fee Refund Policy when a class is dropped after the date classes start (regardless if the student ever attended). Refunds are calculated from the date the student formally notifies the Student Services office of their intent to drop a class or completely withdraws. Students must complete a drop form or drop classes online through MyNorthwoodTech.
