Early Childhood Education
Northcentral Technical College
The Early Childhood Education Associate Degree program prepares learners to work as teacher-caregivers in early education. It combines hands-on fieldwork in area centers with related academic work at the college. Graduates become responsible for the care and education of children in the birth-to-eight-years range. They create and maintain safe and healthy play environments, guide behavior, plan and implement learning activities, and work cooperatively with staff and parents. Learners will analyze theoretical principles of early childhood education and apply these principles in a variety of settings such as child care centers, family day care, infant/toddler care, preschool, four-year old kindergarten or kindergarten and/or nanny care. In order to provide a variety of student teaching experiences learners complete four practicum placements at an approved childcare agency or education setting. Show More
