Moraine Park Technical College
Moraine Park s three-semester Metal Fabrication technical diploma gives students hands-on experience in fabricating metal products from start to nish. Students work on individual and team projects, as well as service-learning projects for the community. In Moraine Park s hands-on metal fabrication courses, students learn how to build metal products from start to nish, read prints and use lean practices in automated cutting, forming and welding. Students also learn gas metal arc welding (GMAW), gas tungsten arc welding (GTAW), flux core arc welding (FCAW), shielded metal arc welding (SMAW), and laser, plasma and oxy-fuel cutting. Upon completion, students are prepared to take the FMA Fundamentals of Metal Fabrication Certi cate exam. Upon successful completion of Semesters 1 and 2, students earn the Welding technical diploma. Program applications are accepted until a week prior to the start of each semester. There are some exceptions for programs or certificates that begin mid-semester. Some high-demand/limited-enrollment programs reach capacity based on the number of students who complete admission. Applicants are accepted into limited-enrollment programs on a first-come, first-served basis and are admitted from program waitlists as space becomes available.
Upon successful completion of Semesters 1 and 2, students earn the Welding technical diploma. Completing the additional 10 credits in Semester 3 (summer), earns students the Welding technical diploma and the Metal Fabrication technical diploma.
Advisory board committee members from area businesses provide guidance and direction on curriculum and program outcomes.
Moraine Park offers Employment Services and Career Services to students.
Tutoring is available online and face to face for our students.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
