Moraine Park Technical College
Reach new heights in the diverse and exciting field of Electrical Power Distribution. Students in this one-year program get theoretical and hands-on training in all phases of power line construction and maintenance. Individuals must be comfortable working at varying heights during extreme weather conditions. Good eyesight, hearing and manual dexterity are required to be successful. Students gain knowledge about the workings of electrical power systems. Preparing to work as power linemen, students demonstrate the required physical skills needed with hands-on training in the field. Graduates of the program are prepared to use both hands to perform pole work and construct various electrical distribution systems. Program applications are accepted until a week prior to the start of each semester. There are some exceptions for programs or certificates that begin mid-semester. Some high-demand/limited-enrollment programs reach capacity based on the number of students who complete admission. Applicants are accepted into limited-enrollment programs on a first-come, first-served basis and are admitted from program waitlists as space becomes available.
Advisory board committee members from area businesses provide guidance and direction on curriculum and program outcomes.
Moraine Park offers Employment Services and Career Services to students.
Tutoring is available online and face to face for our students.

Additional fees will include books and supplies/materials. Please refer to Tuition & Fee Information for additional enrollment fee information: https://catalog.morainepark.edu/admissions-registration/tuition-fee-information/ Additional Program Costs Students must purchase specialized clothing, footwear, tool belt and gear. Approximate cost: $2,000. You will be fitted for a tool belt and equipment during a registration event. Required books and materials are an additional cost. New, used, and rental books may be an option.

MAKING SENSE OF THE EMPLOYMENT OUTCOMES:

"Average quarterly wages" means the total wages earned in a three-month period by all students who completed the program ("completers"), divided by the total number of completers.

"Median quarterly wages" means all the completers' quarterly wages are placed in order from lowest to highest and then we identify the student's wages in the middle. This information is provided because averages can be greatly influenced by really high and low wage earners.

To estimate monthly wages, divide the quarterly wages by three.
