Five process categories: recruit, enroll, participate, complete and evaluate. Key participants and respective responsibilities are outlined for each category that follows.

Recruit:

Steps:
  1. Student expresses interest in Career Cluster
  2. K12 Guidance give student options; plans of study
  3. Parents review career goals, options, & time commitment with student
  4. K12 STW help student decide if YA is appropriate STW choice
  5. Student chooses YA program?
    1. Yes-To “Enroll” section
    2.  No- Back to step 2
  6. A Coordinators Educate school districts about YA
  7. YA Coordinators ID & recruit potential employers
  8. YA Coordinators train mentors
  9. Employers obtain approval for a YA program from management & organized labor
  10. Employers assign mentors
  11. Employer Mentors attend mentor training

Enroll:

Steps:
  1. K12 STW registers student for YA Program; Copy form to YA Coordinators
  2. K12 STW arranges student schedule
  3. YA Coordinators work with K12 Coordinators to place YA student with an employer; Copy form to DWD
  4. Employers interview potential YA students
  5. Employer Mentors interview potential YA students
  6. Is student suitable?
    1. Yes- To “Participate” section
    2.  No- Back to step 3

Participate:

Steps:
  1. Students sign ETA
  2. Parents sign ETA
  3. K12 STW sign ETA
  4. Employers sign ETA and run BID (if applicable)
  5. Employers hire and orient YA student
  6. Students manage Checklist, keep good attendance, & maintain academic skills
  7. Parents ensure adequate transportation
  8. K12 STW work with Mentor & Instructor to ensure YA curriculum is taught and coordinated
  9. YA Coordinators work with Mentor & Instructor to ensure YA curriculum is taught and coordinated
  10. Employers Mentors train students on the competencies; assess with P. Stds. (450 hours)
  11. Employer Mentors document mastery of checklist
  12. Related Technical Classroom Instructors train students on specific Learning Objectives of YA program (180 hours)
  13. Students participate in reviews
  14. Parents participate in reviews
  15. K12 STW participate in reviews
  16. Employer Mentors participate in reviews
  17. Instructors participate in reviews

Complete:

Steps:
  1. Students choose work, post-secondary, or military
  2. K12 Guidance work with K12 Coordinators to ensure Grad requirements
  3. K12 STW work with Guidance to ensure Grad requirements
  4. K12 STW work with YA Coordinators to ensure hours & competencies met
  5. YA Coordinators ensure all hours & competencies met
  6. Employer Mentors work with YA Coordinator to ensure hours & competencies met
  7. Instructors work with YA Coordinator to ensure hours & competencies met

Evaluate:

Steps:
  1. Students complete program satisfaction and follow up surveys
  2. K12 Guidance tracks graduation rates & post-secondary enrollment rates
  3. K12 STW collects YA student follow up information
  4. YA Coordinators collect student and program data; provide input to DWD; attend YA state meetings; and maintain a grievance file
  5. Employers Mentors provide input to YA Coordinators on curriculum & students
  6. Instructors provide input to YA Coordinators on curriculum & students
