Insurers and Self-Insurers
Training Resources

Workshops

These are two and a half day long events, with a formally structured agenda, and are limited to a maximum of 45 attendees. The event starts off with a half day session on using the Pending Reports.  Attending this session, and the following two days, will allow the attendee to participate in all of the different workshop sessions offered.  The first full day consists of a presentation on the Insurer’s Performance Indicators, followed by a brief introduction to our Internet based reporting application, the Pending Reports, and then a discussion of reporting requirements, i.e. when certain reports are due during the life of a claim. After lunch there are two sessions running concurrently. One covers Permanent Partial Disability, the Wisconsin Administrative Code, DWD 80.32 and Medical Report Information. The other is a session on using the Pending Reports to submit claim information via the Internet.

The second day consists of an all day wage seminar on the basic wage concepts and definitions unique to Wisconsin. This includes, but is not limited to: part of class determinations, full time presumptions, self-restriction on the labor market, seasonal employment, additions to cash wage and tips, regular work schedules, TPD wage, using the same/similar provision and exceptional employment categories. DWD wage correspondence, wage requirements and an introduction to the Internet WKC-13A will also be covered. The wage seminar includes numerous practical exercises, so please bring your calculator and your copy of the Wisconsin Worker’s Compensation Act (for those who do not have a copy, they will be available for purchase). Concurrent with the wage seminar will be two sessions on using the Pending Reports to submit claim information via the Internet, one in the morning and another in the afternoon.

The Pending Report training sessions are limited to 16 people, and the all day wage seminar on the 2nd day is limited to 24 people. Since the wage seminar is designed to be an organic whole, it is not possible to attend just half of the day; participants must sign up for the whole day seminar. It is not, however, necessary to attend the full two and a half day long workshop. If you only want to participate in the PPD/Medical Reports session, or one of the Pending Report sessions, or just the one day wage seminar, please let us know when you sign up. Preference for individual sessions, however, will be given to those attendees who sign up for the full two and a half days.
