DWD's Unemployment Insurance program provides a safety net to workers and their families during times of unemployment. It provides employer-funded temporary economic assistance to Wisconsin's eligible unemployed workers, supporting judicious management of the Unemployment Insurance Trust Fund. The UI program is financed through employer contributions (taxes).
The UI Division's Tax and Accounting Bureau collects, controls and accounts for the flow of funds in and out of the UI program; establishes tax liability; maintains employer accounts for taxes paid; and collects unpaid UI taxes and benefit overpayments.
Employers can file unemployment taxes for Wisconsin's UI program online. Please visit the Wisconsin's Unemployment Insurance Handbook for Employers for more information, or start filing now by accessing the following Employer Services links:
An Employer Service Provider (ESP) or employer agent is any third party who prepares the quarterly contribution tax and/or wage report on behalf of an employer who is subject to Wisconsin's Unemployment Insurance (UI) law.
