Bureau of Legal Affairs (BOLA)

The Bureau of Legal Affairs (BOLA) is responsible for providing legal services to the Unemployment Insurance program.

These services include:

• Conducting both benefit and employer status hearings
• Representing the department when UI decisions are appealed to the Labor and Industry Review Commission (LIRC) or Wisconsin courts
• Providing legislative and research support to the Unemployment Insurance Advisory Council (UIAC)
