Notifications of a plant closing or mass layoff

Wisconsin's Business (Plant) Closing and Mass Layoff Law provides that with certain exceptions, businesses employing 50 or more persons in the State of Wisconsin must provide written notice 60 days before implementing a "business (plant) closing" or "mass layoff" in the state. More information on the Wisconsin's Business (Plant) Closing and Mass Layoffs Law is at the Department of Workforce Development’s Labor Standards Bureau.

Workers affected by a plant closing or mass layoff are potentially eligible for Dislocated Worker programs offered through local Job Centers.
