Batterer's Treatment Pilot Program
This year BMRLS is administering a Batterer's Treatment Pilot Program in Milwaukee, Wausau and Green Bay. The program was the product of two state refugee programs, Refugee Family Strengthening and Mental Health. The Refugee Family Strengthening (RFS) program provided education, intervention, and prevention services for domestic abuse from 1995 through 1999. All refugees resettled in Wisconsin were eligible for program services. The Mental Health (MH) program goals included providing bilingual, bicultural clinical services, community education and outreach to refugee communities and providing consultation and in-service to mental health staff. That program is still in existence as well.
