for formulating queries: You may search using a word (e.g., handicap) or
combination of words. Adjacent words or terms are treated as a phrase. The Boolean
connectors AND, OR, AND NOT, and NEAR may be used to connect words, terms or phrases. An
asterisk may be used as a "wild card" for any word ending (i.e.,
disc* will find discrimination,
discharge, etc.).

a collection of all of LIRC's equal rights decisions, but only of a limited number
which have been archived based on a staff assessment that they might be useful as research
tools. Neither the inclusion nor the omission of any particular decision should be taken
as an indication of the commission's views on the general significance of the decision.
Please note also, that these decisions have been converted to
HTML, and for that reason they should not be considered exact reproductions of the
originals. These versions of the decisions are provided here as an aid to research only.
Copies of decisions may be obtained at the commission's
offices.

that the capsule summary of the decision which appears on the search
results page is not part of the commission's
decision and does not necessarily reflect the views of the commission.
The summaries are editorial content created by commission staff solely
for the purpose of aiding researchers in quickly identifying whether a
decision found by searching may touch on issues they are researching.
While the names of all of the members of the commission are listed in the signature
block in the decisions, this is not necessarily an indication that all members signed the
decision. In earlier cases, the information as to which members signed is not reflected in
the version of decision at this website. In most decisions issued since early 1998, that
information is provided, by way of the indication " /s/ " before the
name of each member of the commission who joined the decision.

Searching for Decisions by Date:
The Title of each decision in this collection contains the date
the decision was issued. Because of this, you can easily search within these
decisions by date, by limiting your search to the contents of the Title. To
do this, you need to use the term @DocTitle followed by the word
or words you wish to find within the document Title.
For example, to use this page to search for all LIRC ER decisions issued in January, 1998, use:

To search for a decision issued on a particular date, use a query

You can also search within the Title of a document, and search within
the content of the document, at the same time. To do this, simply enclose
your "Title search" inside parentheses, and then follow it with your search term
for the content of the document. For example, this query will find all LIRC ER
decisions issued in 1998 which contain the word "handicap":
