On March 16, 2010, the 2010 Wisconsin Industry Partnerships Academy was hosted by DWD and the Center on Wisconsin Strategy (COWS). The academy session was designed to focus on the importance of making industry partnerships work for Wisconsin regions during tough economic times. Participants learned techniques to enhance team strategy building and make a successful transition from convening a new industry partnership to delivering targeted training that improves outcomes for workers and businesses.
The day's agenda featured a welcome from DWD Secretary Roberta Gassman and national speaker Jack Mills, Director of the National Network of Sector Partners (NNSP). Mr. Mills guides the NNSP's efforts to improve employment for low-income individuals and other workers, while benefiting the industries in which they work using sector initiatives and industry partnerships. Excellent discussions occurred that guided goal-setting and planning for 2010.
