Funding

The FVHCA is a subcommittee of the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board, Inc., and is receiving monetary and staffing support from the board for the current budget year. Other partners in the alliance donate their time and expertise to the effort, as well as help provide meeting room space and refreshments.

Schedule of Meetings

The Alliance meets on the 3rd Tuesday of each month, or more often if necessary. The subcommittee groups of the FVHCA generally meet every other month and report back to the full FVHCA group.

Highlights

The FVHCA is currently conducting two comprehensive surveys to identify the health care workforce needs specific to our region. The first project, a Health care Retirement and Departure Intentions survey, will provide information on anticipated retirement and/or departure other than retirement and factors which influence those decisions, as well as demographic information (age, gender, specialty area, job function, tenure, employment status).

Participating organizations will receive a summary of the future job outlook for various health care occupations throughout the 7 county area, have a deeper understanding of the factors influencing retirement and departure, and receive a detailed report for their current workforce retirement and departure intentions.

The second survey, a Health care Staffing Assessment, will focus on a total of 7 occupational clusters and a miscellaneous cluster, and will assess the current number of positions staffed and the age ranges or employees at each organization, and the anticipated staffing level changes over the next five years. Each surveyed organization will receive a summary of current employment status and future demand positions in the area, a breakdown of employee ages, and a point a comparison to the Retirement and Departure Intention survey data.

The partners of the FVHCA recently collaborated to respond to a RFP from the National Library of Medicine/National Institute of Health. A planning grant proposal was submitted to develop a trans-organizational mechanism for an electronic centralized clinical placement system. Through this planning process the partners will work to standardize the requirements for clinical students, clinical contracts between the agency and the colleges, and the process for clinical assignments and improve the current way of communicating.

The Job Shadow Committee of the FVHCA has worked hard to standardize the requirements and paperwork needed for a job shadow experience with the three health care systems involved. Instead of each using their form (which had different requirements depending on the facility), there is now one universal form which will help eliminate confusion and extra work for participants. Each organization will direct interested individuals to download the universal form from the FVHCA website.
