  1. Client/Customer Services Resources

    • American's Career InfoNet - Contains career and occupational information, as well as state and national comparisons to assist in making information career decisions.
    • Career Planning Begins with Assessment: A Guide for Professionals Serving Youth with Educational and Career Development Challenges - This National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability (NCWD)/Youth guide is for multiple audiences. It contains information on career-related assessments, accommodations, legal and ethical issues, developing practical and effective policies, interagency assessment systems, etc.
    • Careers 4 Wisconsin - Provides instructional information on how to learn about careers and profiles health careers. Also links with Wisconsin Job Center sites and offers an assessment tool to help determine where to look for further career assistance.
    • FirstGov.gov - U.S. Government's Office Web Portal. Information provided on benefits and grants, consumer guides, family, home and community, health and nutrition, jobs and education, money and taxes, references and general government information, etc.
    • Wisconsin AHEC Health Careers Information Center - This Wisconsin Area Health Education Center System (AHEC) website provides information on health care careers. Site includes information on healthcare occupations, Wisconsin educational institutions, speakers and mentors bureau, health careers consortium, professional organizations, and healthcare programs and resources.
    • Wisconsin Statewide Transition Initiative (WSTI) - A comprehensive approach to providing transition services to students with disabilities. This is a WI Department of Public Instruction discretionary project that offers a comprehensive approach to providing transition services in Wisconsin. The site contains a statewide clearinghouse of post-school activities that will assist students, parents, teachers and individuals who are designing coordinated sets of activities for student's with disabilities in the transition post-school areas: post-secondary education, community participation, vocational training, employment, continuing and adult education, independent living, and adult services agencies.
    • Work4Women - A Non Traditional Occupational (NTO) resource web site. Provides tools, strategies, and a virtual community that support women in NTOs. The site includes information on training, work opportunities, support and networks, cool jobs for girls, resource clearinghouse and multimedia gallery.
  2. Counseling Resources

    • American Counseling Association (ACA) Code of Ethics - The ACA is an educational, scientific, and professional organization dedicated to the growth and development of the counseling profession. To view Code of Ethics, select the "Ethics" hypertext link in left column.
    • The Child, Adolescent and Family Branch, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SMSHA) - The SMSHA is part of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Their website provides information about the mental health of children, youth and families.
    • Helping Job Seekers Who Have Limited Basic Skills: A Guide for Workforce Development Professionals - This comprehensive guide, created for career center staff and policymakers, offers a step-by-step overview of how to assist career center customers who lack sufficient literacy, language, or other basic skills to fully access career center services or to find and keep rewarding jobs.  (Instructions to find article: 1. Select link at bottom of page: Publications and Products. 2. At the Title search box enter, "Helping Job Seekers Who Have Limited Basic Skills."
    • Intersection: Navigating the Road to Work - An electronic newsletter of the National Collaborative on Workforce and Disability for Youth. Sign up online for the Intersection E-newsletter.
    • National Career Development Association (NCDA) - A division of the American Counseling Association (ACA). The mission of NCDA is to promote the career development of all people over the lifespan.
    • National Consortium on Leadership and Disability for Youth (NCLD-Youth) - This is a youth-led resource, information and training center for youth and emerging leaders with development disabilities, housed at the Institute for Educational Leadership and funded by the Administration on Developmental Disabilities.
       
    • UW-Madison Career Development Facilitator Training Program - Registration form for the Certified Career Development Facilitator training. Training program is for career service providers to acquire the necessary skills and knowledge to apply for national certification as Career Development Facilitators (CDFs). Intensive 120-hour college level curriculum.     • National Youth Development Information Center (NYDIC) - A project of the National Collaboration for Youth. This is a one-stop website for youth workers with interest in any of the following areas: funding, programming, research, policy, job and training opportunities. NYDIC also provides current news to the youth development field and has one of the largest online libraries, providing practice-related information at low-cost or no cost.
  3. Labor Market Information

    • Introduction to LMI@Work - This on-line course will enable users to tour Labor Market Information (LMI) resources, find out how LMI can help them in day-today work, explore case studies that describe how these resources are used, and enable site users to create an action plan for themselves. The course was developed by the Center for Employment Security Education and Research (CESER) with funding from the U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration.
    • Labor Market Information Training Institute (LMI-net) - The Training Institute web site offers information on LMI courses and certification, lists calendars of LMI events, and provides state LMI contacts and news. It also includes LMI best practices, programs and publications.
    • Using Labor Market Information to Understand Your Local Economy - A Wisconsin Cookbook -A cookbook that describes how to use labor market information for economic development.
    • Wisconsin Labor Market Information (LMI) - Contains Wisconsin's labor market information publications, data, links, and Department of Workforce Development help me find listing.
    • WORKnet - Wisconsin's Workforce and Labor Market Information System
  4. Workforce System Resources

    • At Your Service - A self-paced webcourse designed to help One-Stop Center employees develop a better understanding of accessibility and accommodation issues for customers with physical, sensory, psychiatric or cognitive disabilities. Site includes lessons and case studies that explore legal and procedural aspects of providing services to customers with disabilities. You must register before using the webcourse -- registration is free and creates a login needed each time webcourse is used. Information submitted is kept private and confidential by the course developers, Southeast Disability and Business Technical Assistance Center.
    • Council on Workforce Investment (CWI) - Provides information on the Council's vision and governance, membership and affiliations, meetings, committees, reports and articles, workforce and economic information, and related national, state, and local linkages.
    • Equitable Job Information in Wisconsin Job Centers (Nontraditional Occupations) - Site offers Job Center and partner staff tools and resources to help provide equitable, unrestricted, and non-traditional job information. Information and resources include, NTO Resource Guide, NTO Tool Kit, and spreadsheet on Nontraditional Jobs in Wisconsin.
    • National Association of Workforce Development Professionals (NAWDP) - The site contains information on the organization, conferences and training, interest groups, and publications. It also provides information on the NAWDP's Certified Workforce Development Professional (CWDP) credential program that recognizes the training, experience and expertise of professionals who - directly or indirectly - facilitate the process by which individuals identify, train for, attain and maintain employment and self-sufficiency.
    • One Stop Cartoons - Need a little humor in your day? View this web site for workforce development humor and work cartoons. See guidelines for usage listed under the menu option: "Use of Cartoons".
    • Workforce Tools of the Trade - This Career-One-Stop site is aimed solely at workforce development professionals. The site includes professional development information and resources, examples from field staff, publications information, and links to workforce system-related web sites across America.
    • Workforce Development Online - Offers tips and tools for 21st Century Workforce Leaders. This includes features and industry news.
