Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman has announced the availability of $850,000 in grants to fund the Emerging Industries Skills Partnership Project – a key component of Governor Jim Doyle’s Jobs for the Future Initiative. Jobs for the Future builds partnerships between business and schools to train current and future workers for the high-tech job market.
The project will offer grants to businesses, industry associations and technical colleges to train thousands of workers in emerging fields such as biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, stem cell research, and renewable energy.
This memorandum serves as advance notice to the Workforce Development Boards to begin assembling performance negotiation proposals for submission to the Division of Employment and Training later this Spring. The notice includes important information about addressing On-The-Job Training and Customized Training services and their potential impact on WIA Certificate and Credential Attainment measures. Wisconsin's WIA Program Year 2007-2008 performance measure proposal to the U.S. Department of Labor is now available on this web site. This proposal is designed to be attainable, consistent with the Government Performance Results Act (GPRA) goals and to promote continuous improvement of Wisconsin's workforce investment system. Local Plan Guidelines for the Program Years 2007-2008 Workforce Investment Act (WIA) are now available. These guidelines are a combination of the two Local Plan Guidelines issued in 2005.
Handouts and PowerPoint presentations from the October 10th Workforce Programs Roundtable in Wausau are now available on this site.
A new Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) document on the WIA 35 percent high-wage job training expenditure requirement is now available. (8/31/06.)
