Secretary Gassman Announces Availability of $850,000 in Grants for Emerging Industries Skills Partnership

Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman has announced the availability of $850,000 in grants to fund the Emerging Industries Skills Partnership Project – a key component of Governor Jim Doyle’s Jobs for the Future Initiative. Jobs for the Future builds partnerships between business and schools to train current and future workers for the high-tech job market.

The project will offer grants to businesses, industry associations and technical colleges to train thousands of workers in emerging fields such as biotechnology, advanced manufacturing, stem cell research, and renewable energy.

New: PY 07-08 WIA Title 1 Performance Negotiations Update

This memorandum serves as advance notice to the Workforce Development Boards to begin assembling performance negotiation proposals for submission to the Division of Employment and Training later this Spring. The notice includes important information about addressing On-The-Job Training and Customized Training services and their potential impact on WIA Certificate and Credential Attainment measures. Program Year 2007-2008 performance measure proposal now available

Wisconsin's WIA Program Year 2007-2008 performance measure proposal to the U.S. Department of Labor is now available on this web site. This proposal is designed to be attainable, consistent with the Government Performance Results Act (GPRA) goals and to promote continuous improvement of Wisconsin's workforce investment system. Training Site Moved

All of the WIA training materials, formerly available at http://dwd.wisconsin.gov/dwspts/resourcewebs/wia/default.htm, have now been incorporated into this web site.

Our updated training site features upcoming events, as well as training materials on ASSET, performance management, case management and more.

Local Plan Guidelines Available

Local Plan Guidelines for the Program Years 2007-2008 Workforce Investment Act (WIA) are now available. These guidelines are a combination of the two Local Plan Guidelines issued in 2005.

Updated Supplemental Data Technical Assistance Guide

The Updated Supplemental Data Technical Assistance Guide is now available, Version SED.06.02, June, 2006. A paragraph on using Internal Revenue Service tax forms has been added. Also, the description of the "Necessary" and "Not Necessary" switches in ASSET has been revised. (PDF file, 16 pages.)
