UNEMPLOYMENT ADVISORY COUNCIL TO HOLD PUBLIC HEARING

This is the third in a series of four hearings being held to gather public input into Wisconsin's Unemployment Insurance program. The fourth and final hearing is planned for September 16 in Wausau. Comments gathered at this year's public hearings will be considered when drafting legislation for the 2005 bill cycle.

Issues that may be addressed by UIAC this year include attendance as misconduct, the definition of "full-time work", labor dispute issues and how benefits are charged to employer accounts.

Persons who attend may register to speak to the council members or provide written comments at the hearing. Directions to the meeting place:

Drivers from the Madison area may encounter some delays because of construction on 39/51.

Approaching from the east on WI Highway 29: Take Exit 164, the 28th Ave Exit, toward Sherman Street. In approximately .4 mile, merge onto S. 28th Ave toward Sherman St. Almost immediately (.1 mi) turn left onto Sherman St. and after .2 mi., turn left onto S. 24th Ave. In approximately another .2 mi. and immediately after a Hallman Lindsey Paint Store, turn right into a parking lot toward the south end of the long brick building across the parking lot. The Children's entrance is on the south end of the building.

Approaching from the south on US Highway 51 North: Take Exit 191, the Sherman St West exit, toward 28th Ave. After .2 mi., turn slightly left onto S. 24th Ave. In approximately another .2 mi. and immediately after a Hallman Lindsey Paint Store, turn right into a parking lot toward the south end of the long brick building across the parking lot. The Children's entrance is on the south end of the building.

MapQuest has good directions, except for how to get to the Children's entrance. Note that those directions above are in fractions of miles - it is NOT 4 miles, but .4 mile. Children's main phone number is 71-848-1457 for anyone having trouble finding the entrance.
