Free Employment and Supportive Services Event for Veterans and Their Spouses
Five local employers to participate in job fair and offer onsite interviews
MILWAUKEE – The Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD) is partnering with the Center for Veterans Issues (CVI) and Milwaukee County to coordinate a free employment and supportive services event for veterans and their spouses at CVI from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Monday, February 20, 2017.
In addition to traditional employment services, such as resume writing, career counseling, job search assistance, job placement and retention support and assistance with overcoming employment barriers, the event offers a job fair and onsite interviews with these employers: Advanta Clean, Burlington Coat Factory, JDOG Junk Removal & Hauling, Potawatomi Hotel and Casino and Seek Careers and Staffing.
The event provides access to the following supportive services, which are critical for securing and maintaining employment: childcare referrals, FoodShare Employment and Training enrollment, interview clothing support, on-the-job training referrals, transportation assistance and vocational rehabilitation. Also available will be eligibility and application assistance for veterans benefits, including: education and healthcare benefits, emergency grants and pensions.
CVI is located at 315 W. Court Street, Milwaukee. Veterans and their spouses are encouraged to visit CVI or their local job center for resume and interview skills assistance before meeting employers at the job fair. Walk-in customers are welcome at all locations. Find local job centers here: http://www.wisconsinjobcenter.org/directory/default.htm
