Secretary Gassman to Honor Young Milwaukee Artists

Boys & Girls Club Members Are Winners of First Safety Calendar Contest

Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman will present certificates to winners of the agency’s 2006 Safety Calendar art contest at 4:15 p.m., today, February 6, 2006, at the Fitzsimonds Branch of the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. The 2006 Safety Calendar, produced by the DWD Division of Worker’s Compensation, is the division’s first calendar illustrated with children’s art.

As a member of Governor Jim Doyle’s cabinet, Secretary Gassman leads the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and oversees 1,900 employees charged with strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce. With a budget of over $2 billion, DWD provides training and employment assistance to job seekers, works with employers to fill jobs, enforces worker’s rights, and administers Unemployment Insurance, Apprenticeship, and Worker’s Compensation.
