Secretary Gassman to Address West Central Workforce Development Board, Highlight Grow Wisconsin Success

Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman will address the annual meeting of the West Central Workforce Development Board and County Boards’ Consortium on Friday, December 2, 2005, in Menomonee. In her luncheon address at the Menomonie Holiday Manor and Conference Center, she will highlight the success of the Governor’s Grow Wisconsin initiative and his latest set of proposals, Grow Wisconsin 2005, to further expand Wisconsin’s economy, create family supporting jobs and compete at the high end.

As a member of Governor Jim Doyle’s cabinet, Secretary Gassman leads the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and oversees 1,900 employees charged with strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce. With a budget of over $2 billion, DWD provides training and employment assistance to job seekers, works with employers to fill jobs, enforces worker’s rights, and administers Unemployment Insurance, Apprenticeship, and Worker’s Compensation.
