Secretary to Address Fox Valley Healthcare Alliance on Healthcare Worker Shortage

Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman will address the Fox Valley Healthcare Alliance on Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at 9:30 a.m. in Oshkosh.

The Fox Valley Healthcare Alliance was formed by the Fox Valley Workforce Development Board, healthcare providers and educators in the region’s seven-county area to avert a healthcare worker shortage. At its kick-off event Wednesday, Secretary Gassman will report on successful efforts in addressing the shortage.

As a member of Governor Jim Doyle’s cabinet, Secretary Gassman leads the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and oversees 1,900 employees charged with strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce. With a budget of over $2 billion, DWD provides training and employment assistance to job seekers, works with employers to fill jobs, enforces worker’s rights, and administers Unemployment Insurance, Apprenticeship, and Worker’s Compensation.
