Secretary to Address Corrections Conference on Public Safety & Successful Offender Reentry & Employment

Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development Secretary Roberta Gassman will address a Department of Corrections training conference on Wednesday, October 19, 2005, at 2:10 p.m. in Appleton. Secretary Gassman will talk about teamwork in helping ex-offenders return to society and find jobs while ensuring public safety.

As a member of Governor Jim Doyle’s cabinet, Secretary Gassman leads the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development and oversees 1,900 employees charged with strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce. With a budget of over $2 billion, DWD provides training and employment assistance to job seekers, works with employers to fill jobs, enforces worker’s rights, and administers Unemployment Insurance, Apprenticeship, and Worker’s Compensation.
