Madison -- Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) received notification from the federal Department of Labor that DWD will receive $352,068 NEG award funds to provide dislocated worker services to 110 former workers at ATK-Alliant Techsystems in Janesville.
"Despite some recent positive economic news, some Wisconsin workers are still struggling to get back into the workforce," Governor Doyle said. "Our hope is by providing these emergency funds and the job-related resources, these former workers will be able to get back into good-paying jobs so they can support their families.”
The funding project will provide occupational skills training in two high-growth industry sectors in Rock County Wisconsin - health-care and information technology. The money will also be used to provide core, intensive, and supportive services, including remediation, job search, and placement assistance.
The project will be operated locally through local job centers in the Southwest Workforce Development Area. To find the nearest job center, visit the Wisconsin Job Center Directory at http://www.dwd.wisconsin.gov
