Will Report on W-2, “Wisconsin Works,” and Status of Women in Memory of Tireless Champion for Women, Elderly, Disabled and Poor
Roberta Gassman, secretary of the Department of Workforce Development, will deliver the Liesl Blockstein Memorial Lecture at 11 a.m. Sunday, February 13, 2005, at Temple Beth El.
Liesl Blockstein was a former Dane County supervisor, known throughout the
community as a tireless champion for women, the elderly, disabled and poor. In
1986, she died following injuries suffered in a car accident. Shortly after
her untimely death, her husband, William, a professor of pharmacy and
preventive medicine at the University of Wisconsin-Madison, established an
endowment and lecture series in her memory.
