Madison -- Governor Jim Doyle announced today that the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) will distribute $749,921 in National Emergency Grant (NEG) funding. This funding will go to Workforce Connections Inc., to assist workers from First Federal Capital Bank and Company Store Fulfillment Center in La Crosse, and Eaton Corporation in Necedah.
The funding will assist 245 former workers of these three facilities to find new jobs through skills upgrading (such as computer training), and supportive services to assist workers in meeting the needs of employers in the current job market.
"Despite some recent positive economic news, some Wisconsin workers are still struggling to get back into the workforce," Governor Doyle said. "Our hope is by providing these emergency funds and the job-related resources, that these former workers will be able to get back into jobs so they can support their families.”
The project will be operated locally through local job centers in the Juneau, La Crosse, Monroe, Trempealeau and Vernon areas. To find the nearest job center, visit the Wisconsin Job Center Directory at http://dwd.wisconsin.gov.
