DISPLACED WORKERS TO RECEIVE ASSISTANCE
Additional aid will help former Arimon Technologies, Inc. employees

Madison – Governor Jim Doyle and the Department of Workforce Development (DWD) today announced that workers who lost their jobs at Arimon Technologies, Inc., in Montello, Wisconsin, will receive additional assistance from the federal government because their job losses were a result of increased foreign competition. The U.S. Department of Labor, Employment and Training Administration, rewarded a request by DWD to assist the former employees of the company.

"We are grateful that the Department of Labor has agreed to assist these hard working Wisconsin residents, who were victims of poor economic conditions and stiff foreign competition. These individuals and their families need and deserve this assistance," said Governor Jim Doyle.

The Department of Workforce Development made the requests on behalf of the affected workers on January 22, 2003 for workers at Arimon Technologies, Inc. Workers who suffered employment loss on or after January 17, 2002 through January 17, 2004 from Arimon Technologies, Inc. are eligible to apply for assistance under Section 223 of the Trade act of 1974, as amended.

The Department of Labor determined that workers were eligible for assistance because increases of imports of articles like or directly competitive with products produced by these companies contributed to the total or partial separation of workers and to a decline in sales or production.

Trade Adjustment Assistance (TAA) offers a variety of benefits and reemployment services to assist unemployed workers prepare for and obtain suitable employment. Workers may be eligible for training, job search and relocation allowances, income support and other reemployment services.

Affected workers can contact their local Job Center at (888) 258-9966 for more information.
